Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP)

The UROP offers an opportunity to participate in the University’s internationally leading research activities, giving undergraduate students the chance to consider research as a possible career. Placements are usually for 10 weeks, and you can apply to any project of interest in the participating Departments.

In 2019 there was a change in the payment process for students undertaking a UROP projects and are now taken on as a worker. Please speak to your Departmental UROP coordinator to discuss the estimated costs for your project.

Several Departments in the University organise UROPs. The links below indicate the relevant 'UROP Administrator' in the respective departments who will handle the related paperwork (e.g. funding, student payments, safety forms etc.) as well as answer any queries.
